The College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences of the University, funded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, organized a three-day lecture and practical training at village- Raikot and Chowki, development block Loha Aat from 28 June 2024 for the empowerment of Scheduled Castes of Uttarakhand through poultry and livestock farming.

On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan distributed a kit for poultry farming to 40 farmers of Raikot and Chowki village, which included 40 chicks, 5 kg bird feed, mineral mixture, medicine and water container. He told the farmers that they can increase their income by following and adopting the methods and guidelines given by the scientists because the methods of scientists are based on research. He also said that give the eggs obtained from the hens to your children as diet so that the children get full nutrition because the amount of protein is found in high quantity in eggs. Trainings under the scheme of Scheduled Castes and Tribes will be organized at Krishi Vigyan Kendras in which scientists of the university will be present in the training as project officers. He thanked the farmers for joining this program.

The training was organized by Project Officer Dr. Ripusudhan Kumar, Co-Project Officer Dr. V.C. Mandal and Dr. S.K. Singh. Scientist Dr. Sachin Pant of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Lohaghat also supported the training. On this occasion, Dean Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Dr. S.P. Singh, Dean Technology Dr. Alakhnanda Ashok, Director Research Dr. A.S. Nain; Director Extension Education Dr. Jitendra Kwatra; Director Communication Dr. J.P. Jaiswal, Joint Director Dr. Subhash Chandra, Dr. R.K. Sharma, Dr. Arun Kumar were present in the training. Certificates were also distributed to the farmers in the training.
