Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Fatehgarh Sahib organized a meeting of the Scientific Advisory Committee at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Fatehgarh Sahib on 20.01.2025. The meeting was chaired by Dr. GPS Sodhi, Additional Director Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. On this occasion, Dr. Mandeep Singh, Associate Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra Sangrur and Dr. Hardeep Singh, Assistant Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra Patiala were also present. Dr. Vipan Kumar Rampal, Associate Director (Training) welcomed the guests. He presented a detailed report on the joint performance of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra for the last year (2024-25). Then, various subject experts discussed the performance report and further action plan with all the members. During this meeting, officers from various departments related to agriculture and progressive farmer men/women gave valuable suggestions to make this strategy better.
Dr. GPS Sodhi emphasized on paying attention to marketing before adopting new crops under crop diversification. He believes that today’s agriculture can be successful by thinking in advance about the difficulties that will come in the future and adopting foresight. In his presidential address, he invited the farmers of the area to adopt water-saving cropping systems in this meeting. He stressed on promoting the cultivation of crops other than wheat and paddy and promoting self-fertilization of crops. Apart from this, he asked all the departments related to agriculture to strengthen coordination. Dr. Mandeep Singh, Associate Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra Sangrur stressed on increasing the area yield in mechanical transplanting in paddy. He highly appreciated the work done during the visit to the KVK farm and different demonstration units.
Finally, Dr. Arvind Preet Kaur Assistant Professor (Horticulture) thanked the guests. On this occasion, representatives of various departments such as Agriculture Department, Horticulture, Animal Science, Soil Conservation, Dairy Development Board, Women and Child Development Department, NABARD, Markfed, Lead Bank participated in this meeting and gave their valuable suggestions.
