PAU- Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Bahowal, under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, organized a vocational training programme on poultry farming from 22nd to 26th July 2024. The programme saw active participation from 61 farmers, farm women, and rural youth, providing them with valuable insights and hands-on experience in various aspects of poultry farming.

Dr Parminder Singh, Associate Professor (Animal Science) at KVK Hoshiarpur, delivered comprehensive lectures and demonstrations covering various topics. These included breeding and classification of poultry, hatching of chicks, rearing of chickens, housing and equipment setup, feeding arrangements, egg marketing, candling of eggs, broiler yield, and preventing poultry diseases.

During the concluding session, Dr Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director (Training) at KVK Bahowal, Hoshiarpur, interacted with the trainees, highlighting the various services provided by KVK for the advancement of the farming community. He encouraged participants to consider poultry farming and other subsidiary occupations as viable means to increase their income and livelihoods.
