The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) organized a plantation drive in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Cooperative Society Jassar at village Jassar. More than 25 farmers, agricultural development officer, society officials and scientists of the University took part in this drive.

Dr Kuldeep Singh, Head, Department of Extension Education, highlighted the need of the plants today and tomorrow, and further enlisted the benefits derived from the plants. He said planting tree is not a difficult job but caring and nurturing the plants is a big challenge.

Ms Gurmeet Dhaliwal, Agricultural Extension Officer, informed about the steps taken by the department in promoting the plantation drive.

Dr Lavleesh Garg, Extension Scientist, highlighted the activities of the skill development centre and updated the farmers about the upcoming trainings to be organised by the centre. He also apprised the young farmers of the three month integrated crop production training programme, set to start from August 1, 2024.

Mr Lovepreet Singh, Secretary of the Cooperative Society Jassar, highlighted the efforts of the society in maintaining the earth green.

Ms Jaswinder, Agricultural Sub Inspector, proposed a vote of thanks.
