In observance of National Nutrition Month, the Department of Resource Management & Consumer Science at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) organized a health camp in the adopted village of Sudhar in Ludhiana district. The primary objective of this initiative was to foster awareness among the local populace regarding the advantages of proper nutrition and to advocate for healthy and hygienic dietary habits. Recognizing that a healthy diet is the cornerstone of good health and overall development, the event aimed to prevent disease, enhance mood and energy levels, and fortify the immune system.
Dr Rana, the driving force behind this campaign, orchestrated the event to enlighten people about the pivotal role of nutritious eating and an active lifestyle in achieving prosperity. The health camp was executed in collaboration with the Sudhar Civil Hospital team, including Dr. Amandeep Singh (AMO), Simranjeet Kaur (CHO), Gurwinder Kaur (ANM), and Kulwinder Singh (MPHW).
Key highlights of the camp encompassed measurements of height and weight, as well as diabetes and blood pressure screenings. 75 village residents, including farmers, farm women, and children, reaped the benefits of this health-oriented endeavor. Dr Shivani Rana took the opportunity to raise awareness about anemia and its prevention, shedding light on the significance of millets and their numerous health advantages.
In closing, Dr. Rana extended heartfelt gratitude to the team of dedicated doctors, the village’s sarpanch, and Mrs. Tajinder Kaur, whose contributions were instrumental in the success of this impactful health camp.
