During the upcoming Kisan Mela on September 15, the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) will felicitate the village Kala of block Khadoor Sahib in district Tarn Taran with “Bhai Babu Singh Brar Best Pond Award” for the upkeep of the pond which has attracted attention of thousands of visitors comprising young and old. Spread on 1.5 acres with 13 ft depth, this pond has garnered praise for its purity and cleanliness of water that is used for fish farming, irrigation and quenching thirst of birds. The filtration of sewerage and flowing water before entering the pond speaks of the unwavering dedication, utmost care and good karma (deeds) of the villagers. Endowed with the appearance of that of Sukhna Lake, this pond has been given an extraordinarily look with the addition of floral diversity. The cooperative efforts of the Sarpanch of the village Smt Gursimrat Pal Kaur and other villagers have transmuted the surrounding area into Children Park for kids, Community Park for senior citizens and open gym for youngsters. This pond is unique in its own self and visit to Tarn Taran is incomplete without having a look at the splendid beauty of this pond.
