Regional Research Centre, Kapurthala in collaboration with S. Arvinder Pal Singh Kairon, GM, Cooperative Sugar Mill Morinda organized a training camp for farmers on “New Technologies for Higher Sugarcane Productivity” under SCSP on 11th November at Village Ranwan, Tehsil Khumano, District Fatehgarh Sahib.

On this occasion, Dr. Rajinder Kumar (Entomologist) gave information about sugarcane pests and their management.

Dr. Jashanjot Kaur (Agricultural Scientist) shared information about scientific techniques for higher sugarcane yield and gave information on intercropping and weed management in sugarcane.

Dr. Satbir Singh, Director, KVK Ropar shared information about the services and training provided by KVK for farmers.

S. Avtar Singh, Shaktiman Combine, also shared ideas about mechanization in sugarcane.

Dr. Gulzar Singh Sanghera (Director) shared his views on the sugarcane situation in Punjab and varieties and planning for the recovery of more sugarcane and sugar.

S. Jaswant Singh, CCDO, CSM Morinda expressed his gratitude to the farmers and scientists who arrived.

S. Ravinder Singh, Surveyor, CSM Morinda moderated the forum. On the occasion, mill employees Palwinder Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Jagjit Singh, Davinder Singh supported the successful completion of the training camp. Progressive farmers of the area Sarabjit Singh, Harpreet Singh, Tarlochan Singh, Bhagat Singh, Gurdial Singh and other dignitaries were present.
