Under the leadership of Directorate of Extension Education of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sangrur conducted a training program on organic farming for the leading farmers of District Sangrur with the support of School of Organic Farming. In which 43 farmers from different villages participated.

Dr. Mandeep Singh, Associate Director (Training) welcomed all the farmers and shared his views on the importance of organic farming and its need in present times. Apart from this, he also encouraged the farmers who are farming organically. He urged the farmers to adopt the latest techniques recommended by PAU to conserve natural resources and keep themselves updated by reading agricultural literature.

Dr. Sohan Singh Walia, Director School of Organic Farming, PAU, Ludhiana shared with the farmers about the organic farming of onion and potato. Along with this, he informed the farmers about the integrated agriculture model developed by the Punjab Agricultural University and explained how small farmers can increase their income by adopting it.

Dr. Neerja Rani, Assistant Professor, School of Organic Farming gave detailed information on Gandoa composting method and motivated the farmers to adopt it on a commercial scale.

Dr. Kuldeep Singh Bhullar, Assistant Professor, School of Organic Farming, gave information on the use of Gandoa fertilizer in fruits and vegetables and production of fruits and vegetables for home consumption using organic techniques.

Dr. Amarjit Singh Mann, Director, Entrepreneurial Kisan Production Sangathan urged the farmers to adopt organic farming to meet their household needs from the small scale and explained how the members of Entrepreneurial Kisan Production Sangathan market their produce in the ‘Pahal Mandi’. are earning good income by

Mr. Udeveer Singh, Ever Environment Sangrur, explained about the use of Fermintider organic fertilizers in agriculture and gave information about the nutritional content of these fertilizers.

Mr. Kuldeep Singh of village Chunagra shared his personal experiences related to organic farming of wheat, basmati and sugarcane crops.

Finally, an open discussion and question-answer session was held and the suggestions of the farmers were discussed. After this, agricultural literature of PAU and exhibitions of Gandoa fertilizer were distributed to the farmers.
