Under the guidance of the Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Pathankot conducted a five-day training programme on Poultry Farming from April 29, 2024, to May 6, 2024. This initiative attracted 30 farmers, farmwomen, and rural youth from diverse villages.
In the inaugural session, Dr Narinder Deep Singh, Deputy Director of KVK Pathankot, warmly welcomed participants, emphasizing the pivotal role of Poultry Farming as a supplementary occupation for augmenting rural incomes and improving living standards. Dr Surender Singh, Assistant Professor in Animal Science, coordinated the training.
Officials from various departments, such as the District Industries Centre and Punjab Gramin Bank, participated in the training and disseminated crucial information about government schemes, including details, subsidies, and financial assistance available to farmers. This holistic approach equipped participants with theoretical and practical insights into poultry farming.
Throughout the programme, KVK experts shared their expertise on various facets of poultry farming, including chick care, feeding techniques, disease prevention, shed design, and vaccination protocols. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to embark on exposure visits to progressive poultry farms, enabling them to gain firsthand experience and engage in meaningful interactions with experienced farmers.
