Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Langroya, SBS Nagar, in association with the Directorate of Extension Education, PAU, and ICAR-ATARI Zone-1, Ludhiana, conducted a village-level camp on crop residue management at Dhingarpur village. The camp aimed to educate farmers on in-situ crop residue management technologies.
Dr. Pardeep Kumar, Deputy Director (Training) at KVK Langroya, emphasized the harmful effects of crop residue burning and encouraged proper management of paddy residue using farm machinery. Dr. Kirandeep, Assistant Professor (Agricultural Engineering), discussed various paddy residue management techniques and informed farmers about the machinery available at KVK Langroya.
Dr. Baljit Singh, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection), shared insights on integrated pest management for straw-managed fields, while Dr. Arti Verma, Assistant Professor (Vegetable Science), highlighted the importance of nutrition gardening and the use of paddy straw in mushroom cultivation.
Informative literature on crop residue management and recommended practices was distributed to the participants. The camp concluded with Dr. Pardeep Kumar expressing gratitude to the farmers for their active participation, contributing to the success of the programme.
