PAU Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Jalandhar recently hosted a scientific team under the ICAR NAARM Project to interact with progressive farmers and entrepreneurs. The team, comprising members Dr Ishfaq Abidi, Professor and head of KVK Ganderbal Skuast Kashmir Jammu & Kashmir; Dr K.A. Malik, Professor and head of KVK Kupwara, Jammu & Kashmir; and Dr Arvind K Ahlawat, Head of KVK Fazilka, ICAR Punjab conducted three significant visits. The first visit was to the Tissue Culture Lab at Sangha Farm, which specialises in potato seed production through advanced tissue culture techniques. The second visit was to the Gill Soya Milk and Paneer Entrepreneur unit in Mithapur, Jalandhar. These visits provided valuable insights into the latest agricultural practices and entrepreneurial opportunities.
While visiting the Tissue Culture Lab, the team observed the sophisticated production processes of in-vitro potato seeds. This lab, established at Sangha Farm, is a model for modern agricultural biotechnology, offering a potential blueprint for similar initiatives in their respective regions. The second visit was to the Sangha Farm Silage Packing Unit, where they observed modern silage packing practices that ensure high-quality fodder storage.
The visit to Gill Soya Milk and Paneer Entrepreneur showcased successful agribusiness practices, demonstrating how to establish and manage a soya milk and paneer production business. The team learned about the operational aspects, from production to market strategies, which can be replicated to promote Agripreneurship in their areas.
Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Kataria, Deputy Director (Trg.) of KVK Jalandhar, and Dr. H S Buttar accompanied the visiting delegation, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and experiences.
