Under the guidance of the Directorate of Extension Education, PAU, a one-day CIPT-sponsored training camp for farmers and farm women was held on July 18, 2024, at KVK Ferozepur. 68 participants attended the event.
Experts delivered insightful lectures on water conservation technologies, soil health management, scientific cultivation, and adopting subsidiary occupations. Experts from PAU-FASC Ferozepur, the Department of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, ATMA Ferozepur, and CIPT, New Delhi, shared their valuable knowledge to enhance the event.
Dr. Munish Kumar, Assistant Professor (Animal Science), emphasized the importance of adopting PAU-recommended technologies for environmentally friendly and sustainable agricultural production. He also encouraged farmers to adopt subsidiary occupations for higher returns per unit area and stressed water management in dairy farming.
Dr. B.S. Sekhon, Assistant Professor (Vegetable Science), motivated participants to adopt kitchen gardening and shared tips for cultivating summer vegetable crops successfully. He explained the concept of micro-irrigation in horticultural crops.
Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor (Soil Science), advised farmers on soil and water management for improved soil health and the judicious use of fertilizers. She also discussed nutrient deficiencies in Kharif crops and their management.
Dr. Jagjot Singh Gill, DES (SM), FASC Ferozepur, delivered a lecture on water conservation and weed management strategies for better productivity in paddy.
The event featured key insights from Dr Jangir Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer, Department of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, Ferozepur, Dr Sawandeep Sharma, PD, ATMA, Ferozepur, and Dr Ranjodh Singh, Field Operations Manager, CIPT, New Delhi, along with his team and lead farmers from district Ferozepur.
