Conservation and storage of onion on 03.09.2024 at Safuwala village under the project of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Budh Singh Wala, Moga with the financial help of NABARD department regarding onion and garlic cultivation and processing. And a one-day training camp on processing was organized. NABARD AGM Madam Savita Singh and Lead District Manager Mr. Chiranjeev Singh attended this camp as special guests. In this camp, Associate Director (Training) K. Also K Buddha Singh Wala Moga, Dr. Amandeep Singh Brar, Assistant Professor (Processing and Food Engineering) Dr. Dr. Ramandeep Kaur, Assistant Professor (Vegetables). Prerna Thakur, Assistant Professor (Crop) Dr. Manpreet Jaidka joined. Dr. Prerna Thakur shared information about onion and garlic cultivation with farmer heroes. Dr. During her lecture, Ramandeep Kaur explained about the techniques of preservation, storage and processing of onions after harvesting and how farmers can increase their income by adopting these techniques and connecting them with marketing. Dr. Manpreet Jaidka shared information regarding crops. Addressing the farmers, Shri Mati Sweeta Singh informed about the Agricultural Infrastructure Scheme being run by the government to increase the processing sector and also encouraged them to take maximum advantage of it. Mr. Chiranjiv Singh shared information with the farmers about the facilities provided by the bank. Associate Director (Training) Dr. Amandeep Singh Brar shared with the farmers the problems faced in crops and the points of seed conservation. During this camp, the farmers were also given a unit for storage of onions developed by Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana and an exhibition was also held in this regard, which has been financially supported by NABARD. oh U’s publications were also distributed. A total of 65 farmers participated in this and acquired technical information. This camp was highly appreciated by the farmers and asked to organize more and more such camps for the farmers working away from traditional wheat and paddy.
