The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) under the aegis of All India Coordinated Research Project – Women in Agriculture (AICRP-WIA) organized frontline demonstrations on millet sowing in the fields of progressive farmers at villages Halwara, Sarabha and Paddi Khalsa of Punjab as a part of Shree Anna Gram (Millet) Program. The sowing of millets was done in an area of 5.5 acres.

Dr Ritu Mittal Gupta, Senior Scientist, Department of Extension Education and Communication Management, encouraged the families for millets consumption at household level and for revenue generation through entrepreneurship by marketing millet based products. She also informed them about various upcoming entrepreneurial trainings to be conducted in PAU.

Dr Renuka Aggarwal, Scientist, Department of Food and Nutrition, stressed upon the pivotal role of millets in the well-being and health of individuals. She explained the ways of including millets in routine along with appropriate cooking practices.

Dr Prachi Bisht, Scientist, Department of Human Development and Family Studies, apprised the families of the importance of millet consumption in growth and development of children. Later, families thanked PAU scientists for arranging such a useful demonstration and committed to collaborate in future.
