PAU- Farm Advisory Service Centre (FASC) in Gangian, Hoshiarpur, under the aegis of the Director of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, organized an awareness camp on “Management of Fall Armyworm in Maize” in the village of Bhanowal (Bhunga) On June 25, 2024. The event aimed to educate farmers on managing fall armyworm in maize and address issues related to field and horticultural crops.
Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma from the Department of Entomology welcomed the participating farmers and guided identifying, monitoring, and managing fall armyworm infestations.
Dr. Charanjeet Kaur, Senior Extension Scientist (SM), discussed improved crop production technology for successful kharif maize cultivation in the kandi area and recommended crops best suited for this region as per PAU guidelines.
Dr. Indira Devi from the Department of Horticulture advised farmers to adopt kitchen and nutritional gardens for household nutritional security, promoting the cultivation of vegetable kits to reduce reliance on market-bought produce.
The camp concluded with a comprehensive question-and-answer session, where farmers’ queries were addressed by the experts. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma thanked the speakers for their informative lectures and the farmers for their attentive participation.
