Two village level camps were organized 12.09.2024 by PAU Farm Advisory Service Center Sangrur at village Balad Kalan and village Turi regarding water saving technique, direct sowing of paddy. Dr. Ashok Kumar, District Extension Specialist, gave detailed information about the advantages of direct sowing technique of paddy without pumpkin such as water saving, more recharge of water in the land, labor saving, less diseases and higher yield of the next wheat crop. During the camps, there was a discussion about the techniques of handling paddy stubble in the field itself and light was also shed on potassium nitrate sprays to get higher yield in the current crop. Farmers were also encouraged to use balanced fertilizers through soil testing. Vegetable seed kits, metal scrap for livestock, bypass fat and animal feed and agricultural literature were also sold. In the end, direct sowing paddy fields were visited and farmers’ questions were answered. The method of sampling for soil testing was explained.
