During the monthly training camp for the PAU Flower Growers Club, farmer members sought solutions to the flower cultivation and marketing related issues. As many as 60 flower growers attended the camp that was held at the Skill Development Centre of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today.

Dr Parminder Singh, Head, Department of Floriculture and Landscaping, said that domestic and commercial cultivation of flowers was a profitable business in view of escalating demand for flowers for different occasions. Winter season is the most suitable time for income augmentation via cultivation of flowers such as marigold, chrysanthemum, gladiolus, etc., he advised, while asking to take precautionary measures to save seasonal flowers from frost injury. “Follow PAU recommended agronomic practices for successful cultivation of flowers,” he urged, while explaining flower seed production.

Mr Gurpreet Singh Shergill, President of the club, discussed marketing issues of flower crops and advised forming Farmer-Producer Organizations (FPOs) for enhanced economic returns.

Dr Lavleesh Garg, Extension Scientist, proposed a vote of thanks.

On the occasion, a progressive flower grower Sardar Gurvinder Singh was elected as Vice-President of the club. The camp was coordinated By Sh. Varinder Singh.
