A 3-day (21- 23 February) farmer workshop-cum-field visit program was organized by ICAR-Directorate of Weed Research (DWR), Jabalpur.

At the beginning of the workshop, Dr. J.S. Mishra, Director (DWR) told the farmers that there are many technologies under modern agriculture which are of low cost and have a huge contribution in increasing crop production, hence the need of the hour is that farmers should also be aware of these technologies. , adopt these and make agriculture a profitable business.
At the beginning of the program, Dr. P.K. Singh, Principal Scientist and Program Coordinator presented the outline of this program and introduced its objectives. In the technical session, Dr. Singh informed the farmers about plant varieties and farmer rights protection rules and under this, assured full cooperation to the farmers in the registration process.
In the technical session of the workshop, Dr. R.P. Dubey, Principal Scientist discussed organic farming and production of food grains and weed management in them. Among the food crops, Shri emphasized on the cultivation of Kodo, Kutki, Samwa, Ragi, Jowar, Bajra and said that these crops are low cost and better production can be achieved by using less water.
Dr. V.K. Choudhary, Principal Scientist (DWR) gave information about weed management in protected agriculture as well as other crops.
350 farmers from 22 villages of Panagar, Patan, Gosalpur, Sihora, Kundam and Khukham areas participated in the workshop.
