A 5-day training course for mushroom cultivation was conducted on 05.08.2024 to 09.08.2024 by the team of Krishi Science Center, Pathankot (Ghoh) of Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana under the direction of Director Extension Education. Dr. Deputy Director of Krishi Science Center, Pathankot (Ghoh). According to information from Narinderdeep Singh ji, 17 beneficiaries participated in this course and they were trained by K. Also K. It was told about the services provided by Pathankot. In the training course, the farmers were given information about the cultivation of different mushrooms. Dr. Manu Tyagi, Assistant Professor, Horticulture gave information to the farmers to take production of winter button and Dhingri mushroom. Dhingri mushroom has a short production cycle (25-30 days) and it can be easily dried which can extend its shelf life. Apart from this, farmers were also given information about hot season mushrooms like milky mushroom. During the course, the farmers were also told about fungal diseases and their prevention, economy of cultivation etc. Dr. Purva Jaggi, Associate Professor, Home Science, gave information on some common dishes prepared from khubab and Dr. Seema Sharma, Assistant Professor, Soil Science shared her thoughts on the safe use of old compost. Dr. Puneet Sharma, Assistant Professor, Soil and Water Engg. gave information about the packaging of mushrooms. At the end of the training, the farmers were given a visit to the farm of the progressive mushroom growers of the district (who received training from KVK).
