Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Patiala organized a Block Level Camp on October 20, 2023 “Paddy residue management” during the ongoing “Paraali Parbandhan Chetna Yatra” in village Allowal. Around 80 farmers participated in the camp. Dr. Gurupdesh Kaur, Incharge, KVK, Patiala, in her address stressed upon the ill effects of residue burning on the environment and gave details to farmers about ongoing activities in KVK Patiala. Dr Rajni Goel, Associate Professor (Food Science and Technology) gave her technical lecture on “Value addition in food products through processing”. Dr Rachna Singla, Professor (Horticulture) delivered the technical lecture on “Use of paddy stubble as mulch in horticulture crops”. She also discussed prospects of vegetable cultivation and fruit nutrition gardening. The farmers discussed their experiences with the staff and were given technical intervention for the same. A healthy discussion was held between scientists and farmers. The farmers were satisfied with the session and pledged to contribute in the campaign of “No residue burning”. In the end S. Inderjit Singh concluded the function by thanking the progressive farmers for attending the camp.
