The National Service Scheme (NSS), Aligarh Muslim University observed International Yoga Day by organizing a Yoga Asanas event and a lecture, in line with the theme of the day, “Vasudeva Kutumbakam” and to mark “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”.
The experts and instructors from the Department of Physical Education, AMU, including Mr Dharmendra Kumar, Mr Arish Athar, Mr Suman and Mr Krishnavir Singh demonstrated various Asanas of Yoga by performing Pranayama and other physical workouts to control breath and learn how to create a synchronization between the mind and the body.
Later, delivering a lecture on “Personality Development through Yoga”, Dr Mohd Arshad Bari, Department of Physical Education highlighted the importance of Yoga in personality development, especially for youths.
Dr Mohd Shakir, Officiating Coordinator, NSS said that the programme proved to be significant in generating public awareness on the benefits of Yoga for better health, fitness, and well-being of staff and student volunteers.
A team of NSS volunteers also participated in the grand Yoga session organized by the Department of Physical Education.
