ICAR-IISWC Dehradun has organized five days Training cum field Demonstration Programme on ‘Small and Medium Enterprises’ during 9-13 October 2023 at Kathar Gram Panchayat, Kalsi Block, Dehradun under SCSP to secure livelihoods and generate additional income. The programme was organized in association with Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Dehradun (Govt. of India).
The five-days training programme included hands-on experience in the making of powdered detergent, liquid handwash/detergent, and detergent cake. The training programmes also included training the youth for developing mushroom enterprises at the village level and maize + sweet potato cultivation technology. The Scientists from IISWC also monitored the progress of past established soil and water conservation activities there in the villages.
The overall coordination of the training programme was done by SCSP team members Dr. Indu Rawat, Dr. Devideen Yadav, Dr. Anupam Barh, and Dr. Deepak Singh under the guidance of Dr. M Muruganandam, Overall SCSP coordinator and Dr. M. Madhu, Director, IISWC. The technical help during the training programme was provided by Sh Sonu (T-1). From KVIC, Dehradun Sh Pradeep Mal and Sh Mahmood demonstrated different processes for making various types of detergents. The programme was attended by about 40 farmers including farm women from five adopted villages namely Sundaraya, Kulhara, Semaha, Kophati and Bhugtari of Kathar Gram Panchayat. The trainee farmers benefitted after gaining knowledge about various processes and skills during this training.
