ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad celebrated its 1st March 2024 ,37th Institute Foundation Day today.
The Chief Guest, Dr. P. Chandra Shekara, Director General, MANAGE, Hyderabad, highlighted the directorate’s role in rural chicken variety development, technology development, and extension activities. He emphasized the need for more farmer training and translating research to the field for improved rural livelihoods and nutritional security.
Dr. R. N. Chatterjee, Director, ICAR-DPR, Dr. R. N. Chatterjee, Director, ICAR-DPR, emphasised the organization’s role in the poultry sector and its long association with MANAGE, Hyderabad. He discussed the evolution of ICAR-DPR, its current status with well-furnished labs and a regional center in Bhubaneswar, and its national and international training programs, sponsored by MANAGE. Shri. Chatterjee also highlighted the institute’s achievements, including flagship research programmes.
A booklet titled “ICAR-DPR Backyard Chicken Germplasm: Contribution and Impact” by Drs. Vijaykumar, U. Rajkumar, SV Rama Rao, and RN Chatterjee was released during the programme.
A total of 75 participants were present in the programme.
