On the occasion of National Fish Farmers day, ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Regional Centre, Bangalore, stocked fingerlings of catla (Labeo catla), rohu (Labeo rohita) and Carnatic carp (Hypselobarbus carnaticus) in Kanva reservoir, Ramanagara district, Karnataka on 10 July 2024.

A sensitization program on ‘Culture Based Fisheries for Enhanced Fish Production from Reservoirs’ was conducted under the guidance of Dr. B. K. Das, Director ICAR-CIFRI. Dr. Preetha Panikkar, Principal Scientist and Head welcomed the gathering and spoke on various fisheries enhancement techniques in reservoirs. Ms. Jesna P. K., delivered a talk on the prospects of cage culture technology in reservoirs. Dr. Ramya V. L., detailed on the importance of conservation of endemic fish species. Thirty fishermen from the nearby villages of Ramanagara district, actively participated and interacted in the programme. The programme was successfully co-ordinated by Dr. Preetha Panikkar, Ms. Jesna P. K., Dr. V. L. Ramya, Dr. Sibina Mol S., and Dr. Sonalika Sahoo.
