Vigilance awareness week was observed from 28th October – 3rd November 2024 at ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute on the theme Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity. The week-long observance began with Dr B.K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI, leading a pledge ceremony for the staff, while many others took an e-pledge.

The Chief Guest Shri Chandershekhar Meena, IRS, Deputy Director, Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI), Sub National Unit (East) GST Bhavan, Kolkata, emphasized the significance of Vigilance Awareness Week, highlighting the principle of “Doing the right thing even when no one is watching.” He also underscored the importance of vigilance in research activities, particularly when interacting with nature.

Dr Srikanta Samanta, Director-in-charge, spoke about fair management of financial audits at the institute.

Dr S.K. Manna, Head, Division, Riverine and Estuarine Fisheries Division, highlighted the importance of transparency, ethical standards, and independent oversight in scientific research to ensure integrity and public trust.

All the ICAR-CIFRI staff, students from various schools, and fish farmers of Odisha participated in the programme.
