ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education Kolkata Centre organized a seven days on campus skill development training program on ‘Farm made feed formulation and on-farm feeding management’ during December 18-24, 2024 for 21 progressive fish farmers and entrepreneurs from West Bengal and Mizoram. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Utpal Sar, Joint Director & Nodal officer of PMMSY, Department of Fisheries, Govt. of West Bengal. Most of the trainees are benefited under PMMSY for establishment of feed mill. Participants were practically demonstrated the feed preparation techniques and quality evaluation of feed ingredients and finished feed. Hands on training on farm made feed preparation using locally available feed ingredients were given to the farmers. The participants visited a pilot feed plant as well as a commercial feed plant to visualize the manufacturing of fish feed in small and commercial scale.

The training program was organized with the directive of Dr. C. N. Ravishankar, Director & Vice-chancellor of ICAR-CIFE Mumbai. Dr. T. K. Ghoshal, Principal Scientist & Head and Dr. G. H. Pailan, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIFE Kolkata Centre coordinated the training program.
