25th April 2024, Goa ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries Goa, improved cultivable fish seed availability in Goa by providing 70 kg of high-quality brood fishes for seed production. With extensive aquaculture experience, ICAR-CCARI has developed innovative techniques for both freshwater and brackish water aquaculture.

Under its ‘Mega Seed Project’ the institute has been producing seeds of ornamental as well as cultivable fish species. Recognizing the importance of freshwater aquaculture seed production and supply to fish farmers, ICAR-CCARI provided brood stocks of Catla, Rohu, and Common Carp to Directorate of Fisheries, Goa. This collaborative effort ensures that fish farmers have access to high-quality yet affordable seeds, thereby bolstering livelihood opportunities within the state.

ICAR-CCARI is collaborated with the Department of Fisheries Goa to provide brood fishes, aiming to support aquaculture growth and empower fish farmers, thereby promoting economic prosperity in Goa.
