22 October 2024. The Department of Agricultural Communication of the College of Agriculture in the University is organizing a four-day training program on ‘Integrating Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture in the Food System’ from 22 to 25 October 2024 in collaboration with MANAGE, Hyderabad. The objective of this program is to improve food security and nutrition by incorporating nutrition sensitive agricultural practices into the agricultural system.
The inaugural session was graced by the presence of Dean of the College of Agriculture, Dr. S. K. Kashyap, Deputy Director (Gender Studies) of MANAGE Hyderabad, Dr. Vineeta Kumari and Professor of the Department of Agricultural Communication, Dr. M. A. Ansari. 25 experts from the field of agriculture, fisheries, biochemistry, veterinary and plant protection participated in the program. The participants have come from various states like Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Maharashtra.
This training program is being coordinated by Assistant Professor, Dr. Arpita Sharma Kandpal, Department of Agricultural Communication. The next three days will also have important lectures and discussions focusing on the integration of sustainable agricultural practices and nutrition. Participants are encouraged to actively engage with experts during the sessions.
The training session began with a lecture by Dr. S.K. Sharma, Head, Department of Food Science, Pantnagar University on Fundamentals of Nutrition and Status of Malnutrition. This was followed by a lecture by Dr. Ravi Mohan Shrivastava, Professor, Department of Entomology, College of Agriculture. The last session of the day was presented by Dr. Vineeta Kumari, in which she discussed gender-inclusive agriculture and nutrition.
