With the establishment of GI Regional Facilitation Centre in Bihar Agricultural University, not only will all the activities related to GI be accelerated but it will also help in getting global recognition for the heritage of Bihar. On Monday, the Directorate of Research of Bihar Agricultural University organized a program on the launch of Geographical Indication (GI) Regional Facilitation Centre sponsored by NABARD. It was chaired by BAU Vice Chancellor Dr. DR Singh. NABARD Chief General Manager Vimal Kumar Sinha participated in the program as the chief guest. NABARD Assistant General Manager Amil Kumar Gautham and NABARD District Development Manager Chandan Kumar were present on the occasion.

The program started with Research Director Dr. Anil Kumar Singh giving information about the objectives and importance of GI Regional Facilitation Centre. During this, the CGM presented the acceptance letters for GI Regional Facilitation Centre to the Vice Chancellor. In his address, Sinha praised the BAU campus, calling it an institution of international standards and assured continued support. He also emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two institutions.

In his presidential address, Vice Chancellor Dr. DR Singh said that this would be the first Geographical Indication (GI) centre of Bihar, which would help farmers to get GI tag for their products and help in increasing their income. He said that BAU is moving rapidly towards this goal. GI registration will provide significant economic benefits to the farmers of Bihar. Trade processes will be facilitated. He said that the university is constantly striving for the welfare and progress of farmers. Director Research, Director Extension, Registrar, Director Administration, Director Student Welfare, Principal along with all the senior officials and scientists of the university were present in this program.
