ABOUT THE TRAINING
To impart knowledge about extraction of bioactive compounds from spices and medicinal plants with the aim to improve conceptual as well as practical knowledge. Bioactive compounds from spices and medicinal plants are currently the subject of commercial significance. Scientists have developed many protocols for extraction of bioactive ingredients over decades to ensure the effectiveness and the efficacy of marker compounds or health beneficial compounds to prevent or cure human disease conditions.

Basics in extraction of bioactive compounds from plants – Commercial significance of spices and medicinal plants- Nature of phytochemical content – Fresh and dried plant material – Drying procedures – Grinding or powdering of plant materials – Extraction techniques – Conventional techniques – Maceration – Digestion – Infusion — Decoction – Tincture. Advanced Extraction techniques – Solvent based extraction techniques – Solvent free extraction techniques- Working principles–Quality assessment Techniques.
