In view of incessant rains a joint diagnostic field visit was organized on 20.07.2023 in Siddipet district by the team lead by Dr S. Sridevi, Principal Scientist & Head, ARS, Tornala along with the team members Sri J.Vijay, Coordinator, DAATTC, Tornala and Smt A. Sarita, Scientist (Pl. breeding ) and officials of Department of Agriculture, Siddipet district. In this session, covered villages in Dubbak, Mirdoddi and Siddipet rural mandals along with Agricultural officers and AEOs (Harish Kumar, Asma, Chaithanya), Sreenivas, Sarpanch, Cheekodu, Sri Muthareddy, RSS Coordinators Arey palli, Sri Yellam RSS Coordinator, Timmapur and several other farmers. All the crops were at establishment to vegetative stage. The major observations during the visit were inundation of maize, cotton and redgram fields due to heavy rains. Farmers were advised to create drainage channels and to remove the excess water. Suggested to take up inter-cultivation of receding of rain as weed infestation is also high and drench with COC @ 3 g/l to protect from diseases. FAW infestation in maize, sucking pest complex (Jassids) in cotton, yellow mosaic virus in cowpea and other pulses were observed however they are below ETL. Suggested to go for foliar application of 19:19:19 or 13:0:45 or Urea @ 10g/l of water for quick recovery of the crops.
