ICAR-The newly developed “Barn Complex” and “Selfie Point” at Directorate of Weeds Research, Jabalpur was inaugurated by Dr. Suresh Kumar Choudhary, Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management), ICAR, New Delhi. He also visited the ongoing research work, field demonstrations and laboratory facilities in the directorate.
Dr. Suresh Kumar Chaudhary, Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management), ICAR. New Delhi said, “The newly constructed facility will help in the work being done by the Directorate in the field of agricultural development and as a result, farmers will be able to increase their production and economic development by using advanced technology. He appealed that the technologies prepared by the institutes need to be communicated to the farmers in their regional languages in a very simple manner for their better upliftment.
Dr. Choudhary, while interacting with the scientists and other staff members, appreciated the achievements of the Directorate on various aspects of weed management. He asked scientists to focus more on new dimensions in weed management research such as sensor-based weeding tools and drones, conservation agriculture, and spraying techniques including improved crop-weed management and herbicide efficacy under changing climate. During the program Dr. J.S. Mishra, Director, ICAR-Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur welcomed the guests and gave information about the achievements of the Directorate. All the officers and employees of the Directorate were present during the program.
