A capacity-building program under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP), a Government of India initiative, was conducted on July 8, 2024, for tribal farmers in Hatinada Village, Block: Baghmundi, Ajodhaya Hills, Purulia, West Bengal. The program was organized by ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna. Approximately 60 farm women participated in the training on oyster mushroom production.


Dr. Ajit Kumar Jha, Principal Scientist, provided detailed information on mushroom production technology and distributed 25 kg of mushroom spawn to the participants. Additionally, critical inputs including 440 kg of paddy seeds, 54 seed storage bins with a 100 kg capacity, and 1060 kg of chain link fencing were distributed to 60 farmers to improve their income and livelihoods. The distribution took place in the presence of Dr. B Sarkar (Principal Scientist) and Dr. P K Sundaram (Senior Scientist) from ICAR RCER Patna. At the conclusion of the program, the farmers expressed a strong interest in more scientific interventions and showed motivation to adopt new technologies to increase their income.
