Block level awareness camp related to straw management by PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bathinda at village Chak Ram Singh Wala Block Nathana on 23.09.2024 Dr. Under the able leadership of Gurdeep Singh Sidhu, Deputy Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bathinda. The main objective of this camp was to teach the farmers proper use of agricultural machinery for proper management of stubble. On this occasion Dr. Ajitpal Singh Dhaliwal (Professor Animal Science) appealed to the farmers that by using the machinery provided by Krishi Vigyan Kendra for straw management, mixing straw in their field can increase the fertility of the field and by doing this, Kisan Vir They can contribute to keeping the environment clean. The straw can be used in animal feed and in winter season it will be useful to use it in dry form. Dr. Vinay Singh (Assistant Professor Plant Protection) gave information on the prevention of insects and rodents in stubble managed fields. Dr. Tejbir Singh Buttar (Assistant Professor, Soil Science) shared information with the farmers regarding stubble management and proper use of fertilizers and informed the farmers that adding stubble to the field can reduce the effects of bad salinity in the soil. He said that pressing the straw in the field for 3-4 years continuously increases the amount of soil in the soil and increases the fertility of the field tremendously. On this occasion, vegetable kits and books were also provided to the farmers. Around 103 advanced farmers participated in this block level camp. Farmers involved in the program assured to give full support to Krishi Vigyan Kendra in stubble management. In the end, a pledge was taken by the group gathering to ensure proper use of this straw without burning it.
