The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Ramgarh organized an animal health and vaccination camp under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan in Udalu village, located in the Mandu block of the district, on 22nd July 2024. During the camp, goats reared by the villagers were vaccinated to protect them from various diseases. At the beginning of the program, Dr. Sudhanshu Shekhar, Head of KVK Ramgarh, addressed the farmers, emphasizing the importance of timely vaccinations to protect their animals from diseases. He provided information on improved breeds of cattle, cow rearing, pig rearing, and poultry farming. Dr. Shekhar also highlighted the significance of vaccination and deworming of cattle and the prevention of various diseases in livestock and poultry. Dr. Indrajit advised the animal farmers on the efficient maintenance of their animals and encouraged them to contact a veterinary doctor promptly in case of illness. Over 500 goats were vaccinated against PPR (Peste des Petits Ruminants) by Dr. Sudhanshu Shekhar to protect them from the highly contagious disease known as goat plague. Additionally, deworming medicine, liver tonic, antibiotics, mineral mixtures, and vitamins were distributed to about 500 goats among the schedule cast farmers.
The camp was successfully organized with the help of Mr. Sunny Kumar and Shashikant Choubey. More than 60 farmers, including women farmers from Udalu village, actively participated in the event to vaccinate their animals. The event not only aimed at improving animal health but also educated the farmers on best practices in animal husbandry. The enthusiasm and active participation of the farmers reflected the success of the program and the commitment of the KVK team to the welfare of the community.
