An awareness week regarding the eradication of carrot grass was observed by Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Punjab Agricultural University, Patiala. Dr. Deputy Director (Training) of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Patiala. Under the leadership of Hardeep Singh Sabikhi, a campaign was conducted from 16th to 22nd August, 2024 for the eradication of carrot grass. This campaign was started in various villages of Patiala district and farmers and local people were made aware about the negative effect of carrot grass. Dr. Hardeep Singh Sabikhi said that the carrot grass plant has the ability to grow in all kinds of environments. So it completes 2-3 generations in a year. Dr. Rajni Goyal, Professor (Food Science) shared basic information on germination and propagation of carrot grass. Dr. Rachna Singla, Professor (Horticulture) said that wherever one sees a carrot plant, it should be uprooted or sprayed with herbicides. Dr. Gurpreet Singh Sidhu, Assistant Professor (Crop Science) gave information and said that this carrot grass is not only harmful to humans but also to the health of animals. Therefore, the elimination of this poisonous weed is very important.
