A five-day training course on promotion of beekeeping business was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Patiala from 28.08.2023 to 1.09.2023. This training course Dr. Gurupdesh Kaur, Incharge, K.V.K. Conducted under the guidance of Patiala. 25 farmers, rural youth and women from across the district participated in it. Training Course Coordinator Dr. Hardeep Singh Sabikhi, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection) informed that beekeeping is a profitable business which can be started with low cost and starts yielding income soon. This business has no conflict with any other business and can easily be adopted as a subsidiary business. He said that apart from farmers, this occupation can also be well managed by farmers’ wives and it is an important part of diversified agriculture. With this aim, this training course has been organized in which the trainees got basic knowledge about beekeeping and also got training about seasonal maintenance of bees. He KVK Learn the ins and outs of beekeeping yourself at the center’s beekeeping demonstration unit. During the course, the trainees were also trained on various honey bee products, their diseases and enemies and queen bee preparation. Apart from this, a discussion was also held with the progressive beekeepers of Patiala district. The trainees who participated in the training learned PAU about beekeeping.
