A three-day (6 to 8 November, 2024) training program on “Study tour of officers/staff on SRI Ann (Millets)” was organized at the experimental field, Hawalbagh of ICAR-Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan (VPKAS), Almora. This program was sponsored by the Deputy Director of Agriculture Office, Amroha (Uttar Pradesh) under the Millets Revival Program Financial Year 2024-25 scheme, its objective was to make the officers/staff aware of the advanced techniques of SRI Ann crops.
20 officers/employees of Group-‘B’ and Group-‘C’ level working under the office of Deputy Director of Agriculture, Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh state participated in this training.
During the program, the participants were informed about the latest technologies related to Shri Ann (Millets), such as high yielding varieties, advanced production technology, crop protection, value addition and post-harvest processing through lectures and tours. Along with Shri Ann, the participants were also given practical information about other advanced technologies of the institute, such as water management, protected cultivation, advanced seed production and utility of drones in farming etc. through field visits.
In this program, seeds of new varieties of Mandua (Ragi), Sawa (Madira) and Chuaa (Amaranth) were also distributed to the trainees for demonstration along with certificates.
