As a part of ‘One-ICAR’ system, a team of scientists from ICAR-National Research Centre for Grapes, Pune and ICAR-Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal, visited different grape drying regions of Sangli and Solapur districts on 17th–18th September 2024 to understand existing grape drying structures and problems being faced in raisin making.

Dr Kaushik Banerjee, Director, ICAR-NRCG, spoke about modifying the structures with suitable engineering inputs to produce quality raisins for a higher farmers’ income.

The team visited 8 sites (Malgaon, Agalgaon, Umadi (Sangli), Karkamb, Nannaj and Akkalkot (Solapur), reviewed grape drying structures and interacted with more than 30 grape growers-cum-raisin makers.
