ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (CTCRI) has signed technology license agreement (TLA) with M/s Precision Grow, Mumbai and transferred the e-Crop smart farming technology for a cost of Rs. 17.70 lakhs. The TLA was signed on the occasion of world environment day celebrations at CTCRI by G. Byju, Director, CTCRI; Praveen Malik, CEO, Agrinnovate India Limited (AgIN), Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, GoI, New Delhi and Bharat Patni, Director, Precision Grow, Mumbai in the presence of Santhosh Mithra, the inventor of the technology. S. Sunitha, Principal Scientist welcomed the gathering and Dr. P.S. Sivakumar, Principal Scientist and officer-in-charge, Institute Technology Management Unit proposed vote of thanks. Electronic crop (e-Crop), the first IoT device of ICAR which has been recently granted patent, is an electronic crop simulator that simulates crop growth in real time and provides agro-advisory at a daily time scale. Through its commercialization, the institute plans to make the device available to more areas and crops in India with a view to reduce the water, nutrients and carbon footprints without compromising on yield and income.
