To enhance the livelihood through income generation by having a self-employment activity to farmers. ICAR NAARM organized two days Skill Development training programme on “Backyard Poultry” under SCSP in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Gaddipally, Telangana for SC farmers from 23- 24th March 2023.The farmers participated actively in all sessions of the program and were educated on various aspects of backyard poultry rearing. Around 100 farmers from seven mandals of Suryapet District participated in the programme. To start the Backyard Poultry farming by the trainees to each trainee 10 Gramapriya chicks (one months old) were distributed.
Dr. G. Venkateshwarlu, Joint Director, ICAR-NAARM participated as chief guest and he highlighted that the backyard poultry farming can boost up family income as it involves low cost investment but gives higher economic returns.
Dr M Balakrishnan, Principal Scientist & Chairman SCSP, ICAR-NAARM, participated and briefed about the importance of the training programme. He enlightened the trainees towards adopting the Backyard Poultry Farming successfully as an income generation activity.
Earlier, Sri B. Lava Kumar, Senior Scientist and Head (i/c), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gaddipally delivered the welcome address. Smt. N Sugandhi, Programme Assistant (Home Science), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gaddipally proposed vote of thanks.
