KVK, Palem organized a Sensitization workshop on HDPS cotton to AEO’s of Nagarkurnool district at KVK, Palem, Bijinepally mandal, Nagarkurnool dist on 10.10.2023. A Sensitization programme has been organized by the KVK, Palem on High Density Planting System (HDPS) to train the AEO’s of Nagarkurnool district in order to promote HDPS technology among the cotton growing farmers. The programme was chaired by Dr. T. Prabhakar Reddy, Programme Coordinator , KVK, Palem and emphasized on the Importance and concepts of HDPS technology, best crop management practices viz., weed, fertilizers and canopy management strategies in the technology and explained the differences between HDPS and normal planting, how HDPS is advantageous over the normal one in detailed. Dr. B. Rajashekar, SMS (Agril. Extn) stressed upon encouraging the farmers to implement the technology in group and explained how community action impact the technology to pass forward. Dr. O. Shaila, SMS (PP) highlighted the climate change on various pests and diseases in cotton ecosystem and explained the Integrated Pests and disease management approaches (crop rotation, intercrops, trap crops, clean cultivation, Use of bio rational and ETL-based and need-based chemical sprays) to bring down the cost of cultivation. In this workshop Dr. T. Prabhakar Reddy, Programme Coordinator, Dr. B. Rajashekar, SMS (Agril. Extn), Dr. O. Shaila, SMS (PP), Dr. A. Shankar, SMS (Hort) Smt. E. Jyoshna, SMS (Home Science) and 45 AEO’s from various clusters of Nagarkurnool dist were participated.
