Udaipur, On August 12, 2023, a massive tree plantation program was organized under the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence in Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur Smart Village Brahmins Ki Hundar. Chief guest of the program, Dr. Ajit Kumar Karnataka, Honorable Vice Chancellor, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur inaugurated the program by planting saplings. Also told that under the direction of the Honorable Chancellor, under the “Meri Mati Mera Desh” program, all the universities of the state have to organize a massive tree planting program. In this series, trees were planted on the pasture land of Brahmins of Gram Panchayat Madar in Hundar. The tree plantation that was done last year. Most of the trees are flourishing, the main role in this has been played by the local villagers, they were honored on this occasion. Apart from this, he also called that every family should plant at least 4 to 5 fruit trees near their house and farm. To make proper use of water in farming, drop and sprinkler irrigation systems should be used.
On this occasion Dr. R. A. Kaushik, Director of Extension Education, while explaining the importance of trees, said that trees like Bilpatra, Khejri, Peepal, Amla, Tulsi etc. have been worshiped since ancient times. He also said in his address that development of pastureland leads to development of village community by strengthening livelihood through agriculture, dairy production, animal husbandry etc. and the ecosystem also gets strengthened and the hills around the village will also be covered with greenery.
In the program, Dr. Manoj Mahala, Student Welfare Officer, MPRKVY, Udaipur welcomed all the guests and said that massive tree plantation was done by the students of all the constituent colleges of the university. Before this, under the Meri Maati Mera Desh programme, students of the National Service Scheme took out a public awareness rally through slogans and banners to save the environment and promote cleanliness in the smart village. After this, all the students took a step towards strengthening the environment by planting one sapling each.
On this occasion, Mrs. Lakshmi Devi, President, Gram Panchayat Madar assured that the villagers will fully cooperate in the efforts being made by the University to strengthen the environment.
Program coordinator Dr. R. S. Rathore presented a brief description of the work done by the university in the village for the last few years and said that the Honorable Chancellor has also given a letter of appreciation to the university for these efforts and works. On this occasion, the Honorable Vice Chancellor administered oath to all the villagers and students to save the environment and distributed seeds of improved varieties of vegetables to the farmer women for planting home gardens. On this occasion, Dr. Arvind Verma, Director Research, Dr. P.K. Singh, Dean, CTAE, Dr. Lokesh Gupta, Dean, CDFT, Dr. B. K Sharma, Dean, Fisheries College, Dr. R. P. Meena, Dean, Agricultural College, Dungarpur, Dr. Virendra Nepaliya, Special Officer, N. of all colleges. S. Officials, teachers of Government Higher Secondary School and all the villagers of the village were present.
r. Latika Vyas Acharya, Directorate of Extension Education, Udaipur, while conducting the program, thanked everyone at the end of the program and told that 355 participants participated on this occasion and made the program successful.
