The 39th Annual Workshop of the All India Coordinated Research Project on Post-Harvest Engineering & Technology concluded at the ICAR-Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology, Ludhiana. The 3-day workshop was held from 13th-15th March 2024.
The Chief Guest, Dr. S.N. Jha, Deputy Director General (Agril Engineering) ICAR, emphasized the criticality of reducing post-harvest losses and continuous evaluation. He stressed the importance of commercializing technologies to ensure wider outreach among stakeholders.
Dr. K Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director, ICAR-CIPHET, emphasized the importance of innovation in research endeavors and stressed the necessity of intellectual property protection.
Dr. K. Narsaiah, Assistant Director General (Process Engineering), ICAR, highlighted the necessity of focusing on processing and value addition to make agriculture economically viable.
Dr. S Patel, Retired Professor (Food Process Engineering), Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur, Dr. R Vishwanathan, Professor (Food Process Engineering), Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, and Dr. V. K Seghal, Retired Professor, Punjab Agricultural University, were also present during the programme.
The technical sessions were characterized by discussions on new research proposals and a thorough review of ongoing projects.
A total of 76 participants including Scientists, Project Investigators, and Research Engineers from cooperating centers under AICRP on PHET, fostering fruitful exchanges and collaborative efforts towards advancing post-harvest engineering and technology attended the workshop.
