PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Fatehgarh Sahib, successfully concluded a five-day training programme on value addition of summer horticultural crops held from May 27 to May 31, 2024. Dr Vipan Kumar Rampal, Associate Director (Training) at KVK, detailed the programme and emphasized its crucial role in today’s agricultural landscape. He highlighted the importance of learning and applying new skills to generate income and start enterprises, thereby enhancing farmers’ profitability.

Dr Manisha Bhatia, Assistant Professor of Home Science, led the training sessions, equipping participants with value-adding techniques for bael squash, mango squash, plum jam, papaya jam, peach squash, and jaljeera. Practical demonstrations provided hands-on experience in preparing these items, enabling trainees to apply their new skills at home and ensure their families have access to nutritious and high-quality food.

Participants were also encouraged to leverage their training to start their enterprises, utilizing the techniques and knowledge gained during the program to boost their income and contribute to sustainable agricultural practices.
