The university introduced the Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) programme in Integrated Farming and Entrepreneurship, a ground breaking curriculum that merges sustainable farming practices with entrepreneurial skills. This degree programme aims to equip prospective students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to thrive in a dynamic and ever-evolving agricultural sector.
Dr.Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor said that food production systems need to be reorganized to meet global quality standards, address environmental concerns, and cater to the health-conscious consumer. Our (B.Voc.) programme is a transformative approach that not only imparts traditional agricultural wisdom but also cultivates a deep understanding of entrepreneurship, setting our graduates on a path to become entrepreneurs in the field. The programme offers a viable and sustainable alternative for educated youth, especially those from rural backgrounds. By integrating animal husbandry and agricultural farming systems, the curriculum addresses critical aspects such as sustainable production, processing, value addition, food safety, animal welfare, and marketing.
One of the unique features of this programme is its emphasis on continuous entrepreneurial exposure. Students will not only gain a comprehensive understanding of farming practices but will also develop practical skills and industry knowledge crucial for their future careers. The programme is designed to provide flexibility and convenience to students. The initial entry for the 2023-24 academic year will be in the 1st Semester, with lateral entry options available in subsequent semesters. The last date to apply is 25th of August 2023.
