With the pink bollworm attack in cotton raising its heads again in the Punjab state, the entomologists of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) have divulged that no incidence of the pest has been found in the cotton fields of villages Khiyalichalan Wali and Sahenewali of Mansa district as per the survey conducted by the agri-varsity.

Dr Manmeet Brar Bhullar, Professor and Head, Department of Entomology, advised the farmers to remain vigilant and regularly monitor their cotton crop for the timely detection of the pest.

Dr Vijay Kumar, Senior Entomologist, advised the cotton growers to spray 500 ml of Profenophos 50 EC (curacron/carina) or 100 g Proclaim 5 SG (emamectin benzoate) or 200 ml of Indoxacarb 15 SC (avaunt) or 250 ml of Thiodicarb 75 WP (larvin) or 800 ml of Ethion 50 EC (fosmite) alternately, in case of pink bollworm attack. These should be sprayed per acre by dissolving in 150 liters of water, he suggested, while asking to repeat the spray at an interval of seven days for its effective management.
