AICRP on Forage crops and utilization has organized the TSP activities in Wayanad district with distribution of layer hen and fodder planting materials to Tribal women in Noolppuzha and Ambalavayal panchayath respectively. The official inauguration of the programme was done on 7.11.2022 at Malappura Kurumar tribal colony in Noolpuzha panchayath with supply of layer hen. The programme was inaugurated by Grama Panchayath Vice President Sri. Usman. Beneficiaries were identified by KVK,Wyanad and distributed 120-layer hen to 40 Tribal families. The hens were reared in KVK, Wayanad and the breed is best suited for backyard rearing in Kerala. Block Panchayath member Sri Asainar, Ward Member Sri Anil M.C, Dr. Safiya, PC, KVK, Wyanad were also present. Dr. Ameena M, Professor and Officer in charge, AICRP on Forage Crops welcomed the gathering and Dr. Gayathri G, Assistant Professor, AICRP on Forage Crops proposed the vote of thanks. This was followed by a training session on ‘Scientific layer hen rearing’ handled by Dr. Smitha John, Veterinary Doctor, Noolpuzha grama Panchayath.
The distribution of fodder planting material of Hybrid napier variety ‘Susthira’ to tribal dairy farmers was done in Ambalavayal Panchayath on 8/11/2022. The inauguration of the programme was done at Nellarachal tribal colony with supply of BN hybrid cuttings to 50 families. Dr. Ameena M, Professor and Officer in charge, AICRP on Forage Crops welcomed the gathering and the programme was inaugurated by Ward member Smt. Aamina. Beneficiaries were identified by RARS, Wayanad and distributed 5000 stem cuttings to the beneficiaries. Dr. Denny Franco, Assistant Professor and Officer in charge of TSP at RARS, Wayanad, Smt. Liji, Tribal Promoter, Nellarachal were also present. This was followed by a training session on ‘Scientific fodder cultivation’ by Dr. Gayathri G. and nearly 50 dairy farmers participated in the programme.
