ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ujwa, Delhi organized training for scientific goat rearing from 18 to 28 April. This training program concluded today.

Dr. Devendra Kumar Rana, Chairman, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ujwa, Delhi inaugurated the training program. Addressing the trainees, he said that in the current scenario, goat rearing is the best business for self-employment to earn more income at low cost. Dr. Rana said that the amount of nutrients found in goat milk, such as zinc, selenium, copper and iron, is found to be more than the milk of other animals, which increases immunity in the human body. He said that good income can also be obtained by making value added products, such as paneer and cheese, from goat milk.

Training programme for scientific goat rearing concluded

During this 10-day training, Dr. Jai Prakash, Specialist (Animal Husbandry), KVK, Ujwa trained the trainees about different breeds of goats, rearing according to suitable climate, fodder management, symptoms and prevention of various bacterial and viral diseases, housing management and health management, care of newborn lambs, pre and post natal care of goats etc.

Dr. Samar Pal Singh, Specialist (Agronomy) gave detailed information about management and cultivation of green fodder throughout the year.

Shri Brijesh Kumar, Specialist (Soil Science) shared ideas about generating additional income by value addition, packing and distribution of goat manure.

During the closing session, certificates were awarded after evaluation of the trainees.

31 trainees from Delhi Rural, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan attended this training.
