The ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Eastern Regional Station (ERS), Kolkata and Bharat Sewashram Sangha (BSS), Daria jointly organized a ‘Chicks Distribution Programme’ at Daria village on 17th January, 2024. Two hundred (n=200) rural women belonging to scheduled caste community from five different villages i.e. Dria (n=64), Thakurani Beria (n=36), Shibnagar (n=36), Gobramari (n=25), Kumarsa Chak (n=24), Karakati (n=11), and Dighirpar (n=3) and Hatamari (n=1) joined in the programme
to receive the inputs.
All the beneficiaries underwent a poultry health awareness training programme either on 5 th or 11th or 15th of January, 2024. Dr S. Bag and Dr. G. K. Das Principal Scientists from ICAR-IVRI-ERS, Kolkata and Sri Sujit Mondal and Mr Dibakar Kayal were present in the programme on behalf of BSS, Daria. Four thousand (n=4000) chicks and 200 kit bags containing medicines/ feed supplements were distributed among the beneficiaries. Before the start of the chick distribution, all the beneficiaries were again appraised about the up keeping of day old chicks and importance of schedule of poultry vaccinations. The beneficiaries were also informed about the use of supplied medicines and each of them received a written instructions for the use of the supplied medicine (s).
